Our Story
I didn't start out as a photographer.
I grew up in the city and spent years as what I'd call a hardcore corporate junkie. Photography found me by accident: my company insisted I take a holiday, so I bought a camera I didn't know how to use and went.
Then the wild took over.
That camera led me into forests, and eventually almost all my time behind the lens went to two animals: tigers and snow leopards. In 2024 I saw snow leopards for the first time, and I fell for them and for the high, unforgiving country they live in.
The one thing that always worried me.
Out there, your gear lives in dust, snow, wind and rough handling. Every small lens I own came with a proper hard cap. My super-telephoto, the lens I care about most, came with only a fabric sleeve over the front element. No rigid protection, on the most expensive glass in the bag.
So I built one.
SOLYD started with that problem. Using precision 3D printing, we designed a rigid cap for each specific super-telephoto lens, with the same pinch-and-snap you already know from smaller lenses. It's made in India, every unit is checked by hand before it ships, and it's tested where it matters: in the field.

The lens cap is our first product, not our last. We're building gear that solves the real problems we face in the field, the ones we've felt ourselves after long days behind the lens. Next up is something we've been testing on our own shoots.
